Parking Lot Violinist
02:50
|
|||
the parking lot violinist's sign said
"please help me
family of four, please help"
dad told me he played real good
and I could tell that he certainly could
by the muscles in his shirt
by all the muscles in his shirt
someone gave him three dollhairs
and i gave him six
many gave him nothing, figured
he's just tryna get his fix
that kid aint even his
i'd rather save this fiver
and get a few twix
so he played
do do do do do do do do
the parking lot violinist's sign said
"please help me"
in big ol sharpie letters,
from the road you can see
so he went
do do do do do do do do
the parking lot violinist's sign said
"please help me"
family of four,
help us eat
won't you please help us eat?

Parent, Child
02:09
|
|||
parent, child and they're playing
ball at the park
underneath the pink sky
but it's not as good
as it could be
little one hates playing basebull
but daddy's got his own plan
for his little man
little one said "i'm getting tired dad
can we go home?"
dad said "son, we aint going home
there's no going home tonight
i'm gonna make a player outta you
even if it kills me and it kills you too"

Big Dog
02:10
|
|||
you're a big dog living like a big dog does.
so very obviously doing your best, just because.
and the leaves didn't change color when we shared a space.
but i sure liked seeing your face in the morning
sharing fully loaded "how's it going" 's
and i deeply respect how you come back to the question
wondering how comfort can push you in
the wrong direction.
it's a whirlwind; tornado; tsunami
storming below
luckily alone is just a feeling
even if no understanding is complete.
your people know that feet are for walking
and/as hands are for holding hands
your a big dog walking a big dog bark.
just a heart of gold loving on golden hearts.
and the leaves will change colors
and tears will fall on the dash
but love won't pass

See
01:37
|
|||
do you see the things i see
do you notice the stuff i notice
i know this
is feeling hard
do you see me
the way i see you
we don't have to stay here

We're Still Friends
01:56
|
|||
just a drive to the store,
where i recall they poured concrete for a new foundation
how it smelled when the heat made seatbelts into snakebites
now it is just one of too many grocery stores
"do you remember what was here before?"
i just love that when i forget to ask
and the moment squeezes past
that we're still friends
who grab lunch downtown
